Week 1: Post 1
Please discuss your goals for the CLAD Through CTEL Program at UC San Diego Extension in a new post. Specifically, comment on the following points:
- What do you hope to take away from this program and bring to your classroom?
- What current challenges do you face in the classroom that this program might help you address?
I have several goals for the CLAD through CTEL Program through UCSD extension. First, I would like to learn more about working with diverse cultures and creating a more inclusive classroom. Another goal I have is to learn more about assessments, such as the SIOP method, that I could use with my ELL students so that I can better meet their needs. I am also very interested in language and language acquisition and am looking forward to learning more through the Language/Language Development course later this year.
This year, my biggest challenge is working with students and families that do not speak any English. Communication has been difficult and I have struggled on a daily basis with working with the families. I am hoping to develop strategies through this program to overcome this obstacle.
